HOW CAMP WORKS

Techno-tainment Summer Camp runs one-week sessions Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm for students entering grades 2-9 (varies per location).

Students sign-up for one course during their week with us.  We have several courses a week from which to choose.  Children may sign up for multiple weeks in the same subject or multiple weeks in varying subjects.  A wealth of potential projects awaits every student with each class.

Each day is balanced with a healthy mix of indoor and outdoor activities, surprise seminars, lunch and snacks, and of course, network game time!   For those who don't play computer games, we've got lots of other activities, too!

Every student gets his/her own computer workstation.

Tuition is hundreds less than any other Multimedia Camp
like us! That's reason to cheer!

Techno-tainment Camp's signature course, Single-Player Video Game Design uses Multimedia Fusion to let students create their own games. Using a simple drag-and-drop level creator and a logic-based if/then programming style, it takes only a few hours for students to get their games up and running. From racers to brick breakers to platform games to RPGs, the only limit on this class is your imagination!  No experience necessary! Students still take this course after 5 years of attending!

Summer Camp Themes 2010!
Please note that Theme Weeks add a third dimension to our camp experience. They don't replace any traditions from the past that you've loved, and participation is not required.

Camp is still camp; students still choose one course to take during their five days with us, but now projects, seminars, activities, and even prizes may be enhanced by the theme of the week.

Week

Theme Name

What Kind of Theme is That?

June 14, 2010

Entrepreneur Week

We're starting out this Summer in a big way! This week is all about making the hypothetical Big Bucks by completing projects as if they were hitting the market. An emphasis will be put on packaging  to make projects look enticing to potential "buyers". Look out Donald Trump!

June 21, 2010

Green Week

It would be irresponsible not to at least have one week emphasizing the importance of Going Green. Projects this week will have an environmental focus and a healthy amount of Green Screen, all while going above and beyond to conserve energy at every opportunity.

June 28, 2010

Independence Week

This theme may sound like we just let the campers run the show, but it's 4th of July Week, and INDEPENDENT EXPLORATION is such an important skill for all of us to acquire.  Instructors will still teach all of the great lessons, but special emphasis will be placed on exploration of new programs and troubleshooting typical computer problems we all face, with a healthy dose of Red, White, and Blue thrown in for good measure.

July 5, 2010

Retro Week

Time to kick it old school! We're going back to when times were simpler to give our students a taste of the "good old days". Projects will reflect or recreate ideas from decades gone by with retro-art projects, Atari style video games, and maybe even some John Hughes-esque filmmaking.

July 12, 2010

Space Week

Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away on a Planet called Bravo, there was Space Week. Students will create out of this world projects, letting aliens and space beings from far away places fill their video games, movies, cartoons...maybe even the classroom!

July 29, 2010

Music Week

You can hardly go 10 minutes without hearing music these days, and this week, students will put an extra focus into making that music themselves! Acid Music will be featured this week, allowing students to add soundtracks to projects, make music videos, and even gig posters. No cover. You're with the band.

July 26, 2010

Pirate Week

Arrr, Mateys! This week be your chance to sail the seven seas of technology and if ye don't want to walk the plank, then ye better keep your pirating to your imagination! Strong emphasis this week on the dangers of computer pirating, and the importance of Intellectual Property and Copyright.

 August 2, 2010

Hollywood Week

It's time to get your star on the Walk of Fame!  Although movie-making is offered many other times, this week every course is affected by movie themes.  Video Games based on movies, Cartoon-remakes of favorite scenes and more will be explored!

August 9, 2010

Sport Week

Every student makes the All Star Team this week as projects center on the world of athletics. Students will go for the gold as they  work together as a whole camp to create their own sport in a week full of touchdowns, 3-pointers, holes-in-one, and plenty of GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLS!

August 16, 2010

Green Week

It would be irresponsible not to at least have one week emphasizing the importance of Going Green. Projects this week will have an environmental focus and a healthy amount of Green Screen, all while going above and beyond to conserve energy at every opportunity.
