• Who are the Technology Integration Specialists?
Our trainers are veteran staff of PlanetBravo who have served as technology teachers in the past. They are knowledgeable, experienced, and most importantly, extremely patient and friendly.
• What do you teach the teacher?
Simply put, we teach what the teachers need, when they need it. It all depends on the classroom teacher's skills coming into the program, as well as their own goals. In some cases, we are teaching content creation, such as presentation slideshows and web sites; and in others, we are teaching how to use technology while teaching, such as interactive boards, student response, and adaptive hardware/software.
• How is this scheduled?
When we started this particular service in 2010 through a federal grant in Glendale, our biggest challenge was fitting every teacher into enough free time slots in their schedule. We actually thought it was going to be a lot harder than it was. Now, through the initial meetings, we're able to plan enough collaboration (grade level) days vs 1-on-1 times so everyone sees our specialist at least twice a month at each school.
• Can we increase or decrease the number of days once the year has started?
We have been able to increase the days before, barring that the specialist is booked at other schools on the desired days. A decrease in the number of days just needs to be arranged in advance in compliance with the contract guidelines.
• How much does a PlanetBravo Training program cost?
PlanetBravo's rate is $12,000 for a one-day-a-week teacher for 34 weeks.
• Who pays for this?
Most often, PlanetBravo is brought aboard by the school's fundraising arm - whether it is a booster club or PTA. In other cases, PlanetBravo is funded by curriculum funds or even grants.
• How do we get started?
We start with a simple and quick FREE consultation. We come to discuss the current status and needs of your technology program. We explore options for collaboration and give estimates.
