1st GRADE LESSONS THIS WEEK

    Emphasis on Target Sounds in Words (and using
                                                         backspace/delete in Word)!

              1)  Students create similar words based on animals by changing
                    target sounds of words.

First Grade Standard:  Phonemic Awareness 1.7 - Add, delete, or change target sounds to change words (e.g., change cow to how; pan to an).

   Emphasis on: Antonyms and Synonyms with Word formatting.

                1)  Play a fun Antonym/Synonym Game

       Emphasis on Creating Topical Acrostic Poems.

             1)  Students show mastery in several formatting options in
                    Microsoft Word.
                   They write Acrostic poems on a topic such as PLANETS!
