UPDATED in 2025: A staple at PlanetBravo for over 20 years, this is THE course to take. Inspiring thousands of campers over the years to enter the field of technology, this course introduces campers to 2D game design using Clickteam Fusion and RPG Maker. Campers learn to create characters, design levels, and program basic game mechanics. By week’s end, they’ll have fully playable games, ready to impress friends and family. Clickteam Fusion is the same tool used to create "Five Nights at Freddy's" and is single-handedly the most influential program we've ever used here at PlanetBravo!

TECH 4-9: Future Filmmakers
NEW in 2025: Campers will step into the role of director, editor, and producer as they create their own short films. Using advanced tools such as Adobe Premiere, including AI for soundtracks and editing assistance, they’ll learn the entire filmmaking process. By the end of the week, they’ll premiere their movies for their fellow campers, and take their videos home to share with the world!

for Campers entering Gr. 4-9

TECH 4-9: VR World Creators
NEW in 2025: Campers will use Meta's native Horizon World builder to design 3D worlds and interactive landscapes that can be experienced in virtual reality using Meta Quest 2 headsets. Each camper uses their own dedicated headset throughout the week as they create and test their designs. NOTE: Although this is a "game design" course, we've learned to simplify the types of games the campers create since it can get complex and demanding very quickly. A majority of this course focuses on adding in functionality for VR headsets and moving through elaborate 3D worlds that the campers create entirely on their own. Advanced gaming functions will not be covered in this course, but an understanding of VR world creation will be mastered.

TECH 6-9: AR Design with Unity

for Campers entering Gr. 6-9

TECH 6-9: AR Design with Unity
NEW in 2025: For our oldest campers, this advanced course dives into Unity’s AR Foundation, where they’ll create simple yet exciting augmented reality apps. Using Android tablets and phones, campers will design interactive AR experiences such as virtual treasure hunts, animated 3D characters placed in the real world, and creative AR art galleries. They’ll explore how AR technology integrates with the real world, focusing on practical applications and fun, achievable projects that showcase their creativity. By the end of the course, campers will have a working AR app to share and continue building on. Please note: The projects in this course are made for iOS devices as well, but for the sake of practicality and efficiency of testing their work, we must use Android devices that do not require developer fees or provisioning of devices. We will post instructions following camp on how to port their work to iOS and create developer accounts if they do not already have them.

TECH 6-9: White Hat Hacking
NEW in 2025: In White Hat Hacking (AKA, Cyber Defenders), campers will step into the role of ethical hackers, learning the fundamentals of cybersecurity through hands-on challenges inspired by CyberPatriot competitions. They’ll explore network security, operating system vulnerabilities, and how to safeguard data against real-world threats. Campers will practice skills such as identifying and patching security flaws, configuring firewalls, and managing user permissions to protect systems. Through engaging activities like defending a simulated network, detecting intrusions, and securing critical files, they’ll gain valuable experience in teamwork and problem-solving. By the end of the course, campers will have a solid foundation in cybersecurity, preparing them for one of the most in-demand fields of the future.

TECH 6-9: Smart Tech Builders
NEW in 2025: In Smart Tech Builders, campers will dive into the fascinating world of the Internet of Things (IoT), where everyday objects connect and communicate with each other. Using specialized Arduino kits (lab fee $155), they’ll design and build their own smart devices, bringing technology to life. Campers will create projects like motion-activated alarms, temperature-responsive cooling systems, and interactive lighting that reacts to the environment. Along the way, they’ll explore the basics of coding, circuits, and how IoT powers everything from smart homes to wearable tech. By the end of the week, campers will have a portfolio of functional smart devices and the confidence to keep inventing at home!
