Start with one clue and a maximum of 500 points. Finish with your score or risk it on the next clue.

How to play

One mystery landmark per day, starting with the hardest clue. The five clue maximums are 500, 450, 400, 350, and 300 points.

Within 1 km earns the full available points. Beyond that, points decrease in a straight line with distance, reaching zero on the opposite side of Earth. On clue one: 175 km earns about 496 points; 400 km about 490; 2,000 km about 450; 10,000 km about 250.

Formula: maximum × (1 - ((distance in km - 1) / (20,015.087 - 1))), rounded and capped below the maximum outside 1 km. Distance follows the shortest surface route around the globe. Later clues apply the same proportional scale to their lower maximum: halfway around the maximum distance earns half the available points.

After a guess, choose Finish with your points to end the case, or give up that offer for another clue. Your next guess replaces the offer, even if it is lower. The fifth guess, with all five clues, ends the case automatically. Taking a clue without guessing is also allowed.

The answer stays hidden until you finish. Refreshing restores progress, not another chance. Results are saved to this browser; clearing cookies or using another browser can bypass that, so this is informal competition.

The first visit sets your daily time zone. A case closes at midnight; unfinished offers are not automatically finalized. Maps require internet access, but puzzles make no Google Places searches.
